EO Mini Pro 3 review
EO Charging's parent company, Juuce Ltd, went into administration on 8 April 2026. If you already own a Mini Pro 3, keep using it but do not count on EO for the warranty; if you are shopping, do not buy one.

The maker is in administration. Don't buy this charger new — read what it means for existing owners below.
A decent compact charger that still works for existing owners, but with its maker in administration, no published repair route and a warranty that is effectively void, nobody should buy one new.

The EO Mini Pro 3 is a compact 7.2kW charger whose maker, Juuce Ltd (trading as EO Charging), is in administration. This page is written for the people who already have one. The short version: it should keep charging, the app still runs through ev.energy, and the three-year manufacturer warranty is effectively gone. We would not buy one new, and we explain below when to replace one and with what.
What happened: the EO Charging timeline
EO’s troubles built up through 2025 and ended in administration in April 2026. The dates below come from the administrators’ proposals, Companies House, Pod’s and Cogent’s announcements and EV-ON, a charger installer.
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| 7 Jul 2025 | EO announces an ev.energy partnership. Mini Pro 3 owners move from the EO app to ev.energy over July and August. |
| 3 Nov 2025 | Cogent Technology announces it is buying EO’s commercial and residential hardware platform and manufacturing business. |
| 30 Nov 2025 | The older Mini Pro 2 reaches end of life: no repairs, parts, updates or app. |
| Q4 2025 | Shareholders put in a further £10m of equity and HSBC extends facilities. |
| 23 Jan 2026 | PwC is engaged and runs an accelerated sale process, approaching about 90 parties. |
| 30 Mar 2026 | The only party with a solvent offer withdraws. The directors conclude the company cannot pay its debts. |
| 8 Apr 2026 | PwC joint administrators are appointed (Victoria Hatton, Ross Connock and Edward Williams). |
| 19 May 2026 | Sale to Pod Point Limited completes for £500,000. It covers the EO Cloud fleet and depot platform, not home-charger hardware. |
| 1 Jun 2026 | Administrators’ proposals: unsecured creditors are estimated to get under 1p in the pound on £45.09m owed. |
| Jul 2026 | Pod tells EV-ON in writing it acquired parts of EO excluding the hardware and cannot support the Mini Pro 3. |
EO Charging and Juuce Ltd, 2025 to 2026
What still works
The Mini Pro 3 is a plug-and-charge unit, and it should keep charging even if the app fails. Units migrated in 2025 talk to ev.energy’s own OCPP server, and ev.energy’s support pages were live on 10 October 2026. We found no statement from ev.energy since the administration, though, and its EO articles were last modified in October 2025. Local load management through the CT clamp works offline. Hive and British Gas units use the Hive app. For the Mini Pro 2, the picture is worse: EO ended repairs, parts, updates and the app on 30 November 2025, and the paid third-party route is Crystal Electronics.
The warranty reality
EO’s three-year warranty was given by Juuce Ltd and only valid through an EO-approved installer. A claim is now an unsecured creditor claim, estimated at under 1p in the pound. Cogent Technology owns the hardware platform but has published no consumer warranty policy. Pod told an installer it does not cover the hardware. So plan on there being no manufacturer cover, and use these routes instead:
- Hive or British Gas supplied it. Hive says it is the first point of contact for warranty: three years with a British Gas install, two years charger-only.
- Your installer’s workmanship guarantee.
- Section 75. If you paid by credit card for an item over £100 and up to £30,000, even if only part was on the card, a claim against the card provider can apply when the seller has failed. The main cardholder must claim, and the buying chain must be direct. This is general information, not legal advice; see Which?.
- Any qualified EV engineer can repair or replace the unit, but EO is not producing parts.
Keep your invoice, EO warranty registration and installer certificate. Per EO’s migration FAQ, connectivity-related engineer visits are not covered by warranty and are charged.
App and OCPP options
The app is now ev.energy for most owners (the Hive app for Hive units). The EO app was discontinued for the Mini Pro 3, and historic charging sessions were not carried across. Owners on Speak EV describe units flashing green and not charging after the August 2025 migration, EO and ev.energy support being unable to fix it, and EO quoting a large call-out fee. The cure was repeated reboots and strong Wi-Fi.
The escape hatch is OCPP. The Mini Pro 3 speaks OCPP 1.6J and the back-office address can be changed by an installer, and Monta lists it as supported hardware. We do not know whether any units not migrated in 2025 still point at the EO Cloud endpoint, which Pod now owns.
The hardware and its safety
The Mini Pro 3 is rated 7.2kW at 32A, slightly below the 7.4kW of most rivals. It comes tethered with a 5m cable or socketed. It is small, with a single LED and no screen. Built-in PEN fault protection exists only on the single-phase “-PME” models and cannot be retrofitted. It has 6mA DC leakage detection, but EO requires a dedicated upstream 30mA Type A RCD. Our PEN fault guide explains the rules. It is IK08, with EO’s documents giving IP54 for the socketed version and IP56 tethered.
The charger is no longer a bargain. A socketed unit is £500 at Crystal EV Charging, or £900 with standard installation. Stock is being run down: Rapid Online lists the tethered model as discontinued, and Hive now fits the Sync Energy Wall Charger 2 instead. The Mini Pro 3 launched in June 2022 from £1,139 including installation.
Where it is still listed (prices seen on 10 October 2026, and they can change):
- Crystal EV Charging (Crystal Electronics Ltd): £500 socketed, installation options from +£400; Crystal is also EO's named paid hardware-support partner for the end-of-life Mini Pro 2
- Denmans (trade wholesaler): Tethered EM301-T2T-PME-DCL listed at £649.95 ex VAT in a search snapshot; live price/stock not verified
What owners report
What Car? ranked EO Charging 11th of 11 brands in its owner survey, scoring 2 out of 5. The survey is brand-level and published on a page sponsored by Pod. Installation was well rated, but 38% of EO chargers developed faults and 61% of those were not fixed. A What Car? tester with a Hive-supplied Mini Pro 3, fitted for £1,239 in May 2025, found it quick to start charging and fault-free. Electrifying’s July 2025 review of the Hive-branded unit called it small and unobtrusive but criticised its single-phase limit and costly tethered option. T3’s 2023 owner review praised the compact design and safety features but found the old EO Android app unresponsive; that app has since been replaced.
What still works
- Still charges, and ev.energy runs the app and smart charging
- OCPP 1.6J, so an installer can repoint it to another platform
- Built-in PEN protection on PME models and 6mA DC detection
- Compact and discreet; local load management works offline
- Hive units have a clear first point of contact for warranty
What to worry about
- Maker in administration since 8 April 2026
- No published warranty or repair route for installed home units
- Pod says it cannot support the hardware
- No Intelligent Octopus Go at charger level
- Ranked last of 11 brands in the What Car? owner survey
- 7.2kW and a 5m cable only when tethered
When to replace, and with what
Do not replace a working charger just because EO has failed. Replace it when it develops a fault that nobody will fix, when the app and OCPP routes both stop working and you need scheduling, or when you move onto a tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go that wants charger-level control. Budget for a replacement rather than a repair, because parts are not being produced.
Three replacements make sense. The Ohme ePod is £949 fitted and the best choice for Intelligent Octopus Go, though a cable is extra. The Easee One is £899 fitted and keeps OCPP. The Pod Solo 3S is £999 with installation included and a pay-monthly option. The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is the pick if the wall is exposed.

Our verdict
We score the EO Mini Pro 3 4.5 out of 10. The hardware earns respectable marks for fitted price (7.1), flexibility (7.5) and safety (7.4). Warranty (0.5) and reliability (1.7) are why we say do not buy it new. If you own one, keep it, keep the paperwork and plan for the day it fails.
