Privacy notice
This notice explains what we do with your personal data. It applies to home-ev-charger.com, run by Alexis, 13 avenue de Toulouse, 34070 Montpellier, France (“we”). We are the controller of your data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
When you request quotes: your answers about your home and parking, your postcode, first name, email address and phone number, whether you agreed to optional emails, and technical details sent with the request (date and time, IP address, browser, the page you came from and any campaign tags in the link).
When an installer applies to work with us: the business and contact details on the form.
If you’re an installer on the government’s OZEV register: the business contact details published there (name, address, email, phone, website), so we can email you about jobs near you. When you take a job, we also keep your business name, email and phone with the sale. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see card numbers.
When you browse: we use Plausible Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. See our cookie policy.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Describing your job (parking, type of home, timing, estimate, postcode district) to up to ten nearby OZEV-authorised installers, without your name, contact details or full postcode | Our legitimate interest in finding you an installer quickly |
| Passing your quote request to up to three accredited installers who cover your postcode, so they can contact you | Your consent, given with the tick box on the form |
| Telling you which installers received your details | Our legitimate interest in being open about who has your data |
| Sending occasional emails about EV tariffs and grants (only if you ticked the optional box) | Your consent |
| Sending you a confirmation email with your reference and answers | Our legitimate interest in confirming what you asked for |
| Answering your emails and handling requests about your data | Our legitimate interest in running the service |
| Preventing spam and fraud on our forms | Our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure |
| Talking to installers about receiving leads | Their consent and our legitimate interest |
| Emailing installers on the OZEV register about jobs near them, with a one-click unsubscribe in every email | Our legitimate interest in finding installers for homeowners |
| Keeping records of lead sales | Our legal obligation to keep accounting records |
You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us. It doesn’t affect what we did before.
Who we share it with
- Up to three installers on the government’s register of OZEV-authorised chargepoint installers who cover your postcode. We first email nearby installers a description of your job without your name, contact details or full postcode, then pass your details to the first three who take it on, and email you the name of each one. Each installer becomes a separate controller of your details once they receive them and must handle them lawfully.
- Service providers who host our website and process data for us under contract: our hosting provider in Germany (within the UK GDPR adequacy decision for the EEA), Cloudflare (network security and our email inbox), Resend (sending our emails), Stripe (installers’ payments for leads), and Telegram and Slack (internal notifications to our team). We don’t sell your data.
How long we keep it
Quote requests: 24 months, then deleted. Installer applications: for as long as we work together and 24 months after. Emails: 24 months. Lead sales: as long as accounting law requires (up to 10 years). Installer unsubscribes: kept as a coded record so we never email you again.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to how we use it, or move it to another service. Email [email protected]. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
We’ll update this notice if our practices change, and show the date at the top.
